Blog #250--This World is Filled with Fragile Egos

All life forms have egos, made up of two opposite but equal perspectives. Our egos are responsible for the functioning of our bodies, but most of us have allowed our egos to control us by letting fear dictate our reactions. The more we learn how to survive in this world, the more confidence we are supposed to gain. But in many cases the opposite has occurred. We have developed a fragility that is susceptible to all sorts of manipulation and limitation.

That fragility is evident every time an individual reacts poorly to teasing or criticism. Instead of laughing it off by realizing others’ opinions aren’t necessarily accurate, or at least accepting ourselves for the way we are, we react to attack ourselves or our accusers. Bullies have always tormented egos that show vulnerability; some have induced suicides for those who can’t find a way out of their predicament. We now have cyber bullies who can cause self-destruction in their targets simply by criticizing them on Internet social media.

Bullies lack self-confidence, but they can justify their behavior if they can find someone who is lower in the pecking order than themselves. Those who feel they are at the bottom may seek a way out that includes suicide. Teenagers are especially vulnerable since their hormones are raging. Their minds are mixed up about who they are and what they must do to solve their need to fulfill their survival instinct for reproduction. They are desperate to find someone to love them, and all they know is to compare their appearance, intelligence and behavior with others in their environment. If they feel they lack the ability to compete with their peers, self-destruction is a possibility thanks to their fragile egos.

Unfortunately, even those at the top of the food chain can have fragile egos. Take many of the world’s present leaders as examples. Without naming names, we have leaders who simply can’t stand to hear anything negative; they demand compliments and loyalty from their associates and constituents. They may order the firing or killing of anyone who disagrees with them or tries to circumvent their authority. There are plenty of other legal and/or extra-legal methods for seeking revenge available to them as well.

An environment filled with smiling sycophants doesn’t improve their self-confidence because deep inside, they know they aren’t really that popular. But they believe it helps them block awareness of their deficiencies, so they continue to make demands. If they have gotten away with this behavior growing up, they have learned all the tricks necessary to escape awareness of their mistakes and prevent punishment by society. That is, until the citizenry rises up and dethrones them. Most go to their graves without an admission of guilt but also without any self-confidence.

Some of the most fragile egos I’ve witnessed are religious zealots. They have memorized major passages from their holy books and have a defense for every question or criticism raised about their beliefs. Many of these defensive statements are biased interpretations of translations and retranslations of ancient writings, making them less accurate than would be ideal. But they need to utilize them because they are terribly afraid they might not be on the right path toward “heaven,” whatever that is in their belief system.

A significant number of people have been killed over the centuries simply for refusing to believe in the state religion word-for-word. Others have been excommunicated, shunned or otherwise ostracized. It may seem to be a nice dream to have a homogeneous population with everyone thinking alike since that offers the security of false righteousness. I say “false” because the Balance of Nature requires the existence of opposites. A group of people can come together for a common cause, like fighting an enemy. But they will split up as soon as that conflict has ended. It’s literally impossible to keep all egos in line at all times, but fragile egos will resent that reality.

There are lots of religions on Earth. Some have advocates who are at peace with their beliefs and don’t care what others think of them. But most are filled with fragile egos that react poorly to anything but favorable treatment. There is minimal chance these folks will be swayed by new information, no matter how sensible it might be.

If extraterrestrials were to land and proclaim they were the gods described in antiquity as creators of the human race, chaos would rule among those most fearful of change. If individuals hold onto the most basic truths of all religions, they won’t mind a few adjustments to the details of their personal religions. But those whose security depends on beliefs in stories romanticized and manipulated to lure the masses to their religions, rather than those basic truths, will be angered to an extreme.

Among other examples, police are killing people who dare talk back to them or try to defend themselves from harm. Individuals are shooting police because someone else was killed by some other police. Now we have a citizen who decides to shoot Republican members of Congress while they practice baseball because of his anger toward their political decisions. How a man with a criminal record can have legal access to gun ownership is baffling to many, but it was his fragile ego that used the weapons.

Individually, cycles of anger and revenge dominate the thinking of many. Rather than displaying forgiving hearts for minor offenses, we are seemingly unable to go beyond two-dimensional eye-for-eye thinking. No amount of logic or appeasement can soothe our fragile egos; fear for our survival guarantees panic and misguided actions.

We progress only as fast as those who are slowest to accept change, and they revert back readily if their fear becomes magnified. Church members become elders to limit change in their belief systems. Television and radio censors are in place to keep people limited regarding the words they use and topics they discuss. Some school board members function to keep certain subjects and books away from their youth. Governments and militaries influence followers into drawing irrational or inaccurate conclusions. We are guaranteed to believe any lie that comes along, especially if provided by our false prophets and leaders.

We are living in a time where our nerves are on a razor’s edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Our Earth’s energy is spinning in a tight circle, drawing us all toward the center of a deep whirlpool, and many of us are negatively impacted by it. Add all the intentional manipulation of people’s emotions through spectacular but highly destructive false flag attacks, media propaganda and the like, and we have a society that is unable to find peace within.

In reality we are spirits, not egos. We need to let go of fear and tune into that alternative perspective if we want to gain true confidence. Then we can learn to accept and forgive ourselves and others so we can end the days of our fragile egos all together.
