Blog #160--Relative, Not Absolute, Predictability Is Normal, Part 1

I devoted a chapter to life cycles in my book “It’s a Secret, So Pass It On: a Toolbox For Life.” I mentioned how cycles of repeatable predictability can be recognized through an understanding of numbers and what they represent. Most people prefer to believe that we have, or should have, total control over our lives. Thus, anyone who states or even hints at forces beyond our control is immediately discounted.

However, I have observed specific cycles too frequently to ignore over the years. One cycle is based on a numbering system of 1+6+6+6 and so on. In other words, significant numbers include 7, 13, 19, 25, 31, 37, and so on. Events in people’s lives frequently seem to change between 6 and 7 years of age, 12-13 years of age, 18-19 years of age and so on. The reason for the variance is that there are 365 days in a year, and events don’t always occur at the exact moment one year changes into another. Even things like sports statistics are influenced by these cycles, and some time elapses between one event and the next, so the exact number when change occurs can seem somewhat ambiguous at times.

I described the importance of the number 7 in my book, such as seven colors of the rainbow, seven notes of a musical scale, “seventh heaven,” and many others. The number 13 is considered bad luck by many people. Sometimes a 13th floor is excluded from some multi-story buildings. Changes occur around the 13-year mark, so superstitions are predictable. The fact some of these changes may be really good is lost on the fearful. If one looks carefully, one can also find instances where 13 is considered special. A “baker’s dozen” doughnuts comes immediately to mind since it means 13 doughnuts.

Numerologists understand the importance of the number 9 as representing an ending or completion. Streaks or patterns frequently end when they reach 9 or multiples of 9, either after 8 or after 9 in a row, 18 or 19 and so on.. There are other cycles as well, including the so-called “master numbers.” These are the double numbers 11, 22, and 33. Some numerologists are convinced all double numbers have unique value, and I agree with that assumption.

Please allow me to share a few recent events I’ve noticed which coincide with one or more of these cycles. My wife and I started a bookstore in November, 1985, when we obtained a tax number. Our first date for opening the store was February 6, 1987. As of February 6, 2016, we had officially completed 29 years in business. Given my major health problems, we will likely be forced to stop operations before reaching 30 years.

In numerological parlance, 29 is an 11 number since 2+9=11. It was my wife’s inspiration to begin the store, and her numerological path of destiny is an 11. We felt compelled to begin the store, events are ending it 29 years later, and neither event was what we thought we wanted at the time. But the life of the store and my wife’s “destiny” match extremely well.

After 18 years practicing and playing golf (consistent with both cycles described above), I’ve had to quit due to severe emphysema. Last summer, I was only able to play one round. My son, who plays golf no more than 1-2 times yearly at fund-raising events, had promised me a round of golf together, and he insisted we do that. I was able to practice by hitting a few wiffle golf balls in a park at times, but I needed a day with moderate temperatures, low humidity and few if any other golfers on the course (so I could catch my breath between swings) in order to play 18 holes. I didn’t expect that opportunity to occur.

Thankfully, one special day (9th month, 22nd day) my son and I were able to fulfill that dream. I was 67 years old at the time, and 67 is 1+6 X 11). The weather was perfect, and we kept no one waiting for us. It took five hours to complete the round, but we had fun. My son played great despite no practice, and I made enough decent shots to have a memorable day. But best of all, I chipped in from a side-hill lie for birdie on the 18th hole.

I realized immediately the significance. On the final shot I would ever play, I made a difficult shot. My years of practice paid off to end my experience as a dedicated duffer on a positive note. My numerology has two 9s in it, and hole 18 is a 9 (1+8=9). I had completed my golf experience with success, exactly as the number 9 describes. I knew my destiny had exposed itself accurately.

The University of Tennessee women’s basketball team has been a dominant force in college basketball for many years. In fact, it has remained in the Top 25 in the country for the past 31 years (1+6 X5=31). That is, until their 11th loss this season caused them to fall out of the Top 25 on February 22, 2016, ending 565 weeks in the Top 25. Their lengthy streak ended on a 7 number since 5+6+5 equals 16, which reduces to 1+ 6 or 7. They enjoyed a truly remarkable record of consistent success, but its ending conformed to a cycle described above.

I wasn’t at all surprised by this synchronicity, but most people likely think me crazy for interpreting this as anything but coincidence since it doesn’t conform to their assumptions. But I challenge those with open minds to examine streaks of many kinds in many different venues, including their own lives. They will undoubtedly find, as I have, that these cycles really do occur consistently more often than by chance alone.
