Blog #115--Interesting Tidbits Not Included In Book

My book “It’s a Secret, So Pass It On: a Toolbox For Life” shows connections between all things. Since I had to set a length limit for the book, many subjects were excluded. I have discussed a number of these in previous blogs, but some don’t require a full-length article. This is my first blog sharing multiple topics.

Yin-Yang symbol: In Taoist philosophy, the yin-yang symbol represents the perfect balance between opposites and the loving energy that unites them. There are two curved tear drops of equal size and opposite color. The lighter yang represents male energy and the sun. The darker yin represents the moon and the feminine principle. Within each side is a smaller circle of opposite color to its surroundings. To me, this represents the fact that all males have some female energy, and all females have some male energy. The entire symbol represents interconnectedness, balance and duality within a oneness. It also represents constant motion.

My research suggests the ancient Chinese arrived at the symbol by studying the various positions of the Big Dipper throughout one year. But the symbol has similarities to multiple disciplines. For instance, if one were to take a DNA figure-8 double helix molecule and have it spin around itself, a cross section would produce the exact same symbol. The symbol is also produced when we take a cross section of the Kundalini energy that moves up and down our spines and is copied on the caduceus, the symbol for the medical profession. The yin-yang symbol represents the truth of our existence, and it is replicated at all levels.

Shirt and blouse buttons: I don’t know who first decided to place shirt buttons on the right side and blouse buttons on the left, or why they made this decision. But there may be a logical reason for it. Since the right side of the brain represents the feminine principle and controls the left side of the body, buttons on the left side of a woman’s blouse might be easier for them since their left hand can push the buttons through holes on the right side. In contrast, the left side of the brain represents the male principle and controls the right side of the body. So perhaps most men find it easier to use their right hands to push the buttons through holes on the left side of their shirts.

Of course, some men have a great deal of feminine energy, and some women have a lot of male energy. They might have more difficulty adjusting to this arrangement, although over time such behaviors can be learned equally well by most people.

If we pay close attention to our various daily behaviors, we find numerous examples of how those who preceded us had a sense of how our lives work and created items that have proven beneficial for us. They may not have known why they were making things this way, but their intuition proved accurate for their logical side as well. For instance, side saddles for women allow them to keep their legs together as they ride a horse. The opposite of that is to spread our legs out, as male saddles require. A majority of women keep their legs together when sitting, ostensibly to deny males easy access. Many males instinctively open their legs, perhaps to show off their manhood. It is probably a magnetic phenomenon.

Another “missing link:” In the book, I gave a number of examples of species that have similarities to life forms from different kingdoms of existence. One of many I didn’t mention was the naked mole rat. Its society can best be compared with that of termites. Ants and bees use variations on the same life style. In all these cases, one female produces all the offspring while the work of the colony is carried out by specialists.

“Soul” versus “Spirit:” I used the word “spirit” frequently in my book, which I believe is the energy that animates us and unites us with everyone and everything else in the Universe. It isn’t some vague term beyond our comprehension but the eternal aspect of our nature. I didn’t use the word “soul.” If I understand correctly, some people distinguish “spirit” from “soul,” claiming a soul is an intermediate stage between the human form and our spirits. In other words, they have imagined an energy controlled by our ego that can end up in purgatory, an intermediate stage between heaven and hell.

Unless they are talking about life on Earth as being purgatory, additional attempts to separate ourselves into multiple forms is the opposite of our eternal energy, which unites all of us. Thus, I believe “soul” is an ego-defined term designed to keep us separate from our spirits. If it is clear we are using it as synonymous with “spirit,” then “soul” can be substituted for it. But I can find nothing about our natures that allows us to have both a soul and a spirit.

Ascension: A number of books have been written on this subject. Many people hoping to ascend into heaven rather than die work diligently to prepare themselves for this possibility. Some define the term as rising up into the sky and becoming invisible as they approach heaven. This definition is not surprising since we usually think in three-dimensional terms, and our egos often assume heaven is in the sky and hell is in the center of the Earth.

I believe ascension is possible, but I don’t believe one rises into the sky. Instead, we raise our vibratory rate sufficiently to become invisible to those around us. We are still there, but we are more connected to the astral plane than Earth. Stories of people doing this are not uncommon in historical literature. For instance, the so-called “L” people or “Elder Race” are thought to have existed in the area of Central and/or South America and experienced a 90 degree phase shift which made them invisible to the masses living in their areas. Those living near Mt. Shasta in California occasionally report seeing people who appear and disappear. Something similar is described in James Redfield’s best-selling book “Celestine Prophecy.”

Most conclude that the Anasazi, who lived at Chaco Canyon in New Mexico, didn’t really vanish but evolved into the Pueblo Indian tribe. Certainly, there is evidence of a relationship between the Anasazi and Pueblo. But there is another possibility as well. Perhaps the astral plane, which overlaps us and is on rare occasions visible to sensitive people, occasionally adjusts its vibratory rate and makes some people with highly developed spiritual energy suddenly invisible as their energies overlap. In other words, the Anasazi might still reside in Chaco Canyon, but we can’t see them at this time.

Food for thought: If we are searching for Universal Truth, why have we not yet found it after at least 6 thousand years of trying? We don’t know the truth of what we are, what is eternal, who or what is our creator, or any of the other imponderable questions of Life. Doesn’t that suggest we need to find a new way of looking at things since our present way isn’t working? And doesn’t it imply that the part of us that wants to hide from the truth is stronger than the part that wants to learn it?
